CyanogenMod is  an enhanced open source firmware distribution for smartphones and tablet computers based on the found in the official firmware distribution by vendors of these devices.

Features supported by Cyanogenmod include native theming support, FLAC audio codec support , a large Acess point Name Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB tethering , CPU overclocking and other performance enhancenments , soft buttons and other "tablets tweaks",  toggles in the notifications pull-down, app permissions management, as well as other intrface enhancements. CyanogenMod does not contain spyware or bloatware. In many cases, CyanogenMod  may increase performance and reliablity compared with official firmware releases

CyanogenMod is developed as free and open source software based on official releases of Android by Google with added original and third party code

Why CyanogenMod ?

About 1-2 times a year , the vanilla Android operating system is internally developed , then released to public, by Google. They provide the source code to anyone who wants to download it. The CyanogenMod community, comprised of unpaid  volunteers and enthusiasts from around the world, takes this newest Android code and ports it to dozens of new and older devices. At the same time , other CyanogenMod developers start adding features, fixes and improvements that Google didn't include to the CynaogenMod code, which benefits all devices. 

Sometimes features that started in CyanogenMod have appeared in new version of official Android . And every time Android does a  new "code dump" of their official version, CyanogenMod benefits from Google's changes.

Latest  Version

Having just wrapped up the development on its jelly Bean-Based 10.2 software , the CyanogenMod team is already pushing out a "Milestone 1" release of the upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat-based version 11. For now CyanogenMod  is 11 M1 is only available for "actively AOSP-supported devices" which it excepts to have few device-specific issues on , since their hardware code is provided by Google. GOOGLE INTRODUCES CHROMECAST AN ALTERNATIVE TO APPLE TV

Google has launched new product similar to Apple TV which is known as Google Chromecast at an event in San Francisco. Its smaller in size, its cheap in price and it can be used on cross platforms with its comparison to Apple TV. Google Chromecast allows users to stream content from any device running Android, Windows , Mac, iOS to your Television aka TV. In Short words it brings your mobile video to Big screen without any complex installation.

Google Chromecast is an HDMI dongle that communicates with video and audio apps. Particularly on Mac or PC using its Chrome Browser Extension you can run content visible on your chrome window- including YouTube, Pandora, Google Play and Google Music.

Similarly on Android 1.3+ versions or iOS6+ you need to download Chromecast apps which will transfer the content to your big screen TV. On smartphones you can run only YouTube, Netflix, Google Play, Google Music and Pandora and other distributors will be added soon.

The whole thing is embedded into a dongle which will cost you $35. The cost seems to be less and as a result it went out of stock in few hours after the release of the device.

It seems to be the most important smart TV technology which is here with us.  There 's great potential  for Google in this market after Nexus Q drop down. Google also have announced an newer android version recently.

1. Plug the device into an open HDMI port on your TV
2. Attach the USB powered cord to the Chromecast
3. Your TV will automatically turn on and will display a set-up screen for the device.

ANDROID OS MAY GET BANNED IN INDIA, SAYS GOVERNMENT

According to DNA and PTI, Google's Android platform may get banned in the country. According to PTI and DNA the Mobile platform  reportedly hosts many adult application that are considered unsuitable for viewing by children.The rising instance of assult content freely available on application supported by android phones, Telecom Minister Kapil sibal sought suggestion from the  media to deal with the issue.

"I want you people to suggest how can we close it. If we want to close it, you will attack us. I want all the media to come together and tell the minister how to deal with it so that if i do something about it , you don't attack me,"  Sibal told reporters in response to a query on the government's action to adult application on Android platform.

When contacted , a Google  spokesperson said the company builds tools and controls into products that help people manage their online experience.he also added if Google become aware of content with child pornography, it will report that appropriate authorities and delete the Google account of those involved with the distribution. "Similarly for Android we offer content filtering . Google Play requires developers to label  their application according to the Google play rating system, which consist of four levels. " the statements  said.

WHITE NEXUS 4 NOW AVAILABLE IN INDIAN ONLINE RETAILERS

After multiple reports and leaks of the white variant of Nexus 4, LG has finally announced the official launch of the device . The device will be rolled out in Hong Kong on May 29, before a wider distribution in other countries.

Unlike the looks , the hardware on the device is exactly the same as that of the phone's Black variant. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor  and has 2 GB RAM . LG will ship the phone in 8 GB and 16 GB variants. All aspirations of a 32 GB version are still deemed unfulfilled. Like its predecessor, the white Nexus 4 will not support LTE.

The white variant of the phone sports a white back, while the front is still Black. the dual tone look of the phone is  enhanced by the white side casing.

Press photographs of the white version were leaked recently, after which an official was much anticipated.

Even before this , the phone has made multiple appearance online . It was first spotted in january and then again during Google I/O. It was also reported that white Nexus 4 would be arriving the Google Play store on June 10.

According to reports, the Nexus 4 is already available in India of the official launch. Like the Black 16 GB version that was launched for rs 25,999 in India recently, the white version has been selling for the same price.

Google is  dangling a low - priced laptop computer in front of consumers as rival Microsoft and apple prepare to release their latest gadgets. The lightweight computer unvelied thursday will sell for $ 249 and is beign made in a partnership with Samsung electronics co ltd, which also makes smartphones and tablets that run on Google's Android Software. The laptop will run on operating system revolving around chrome web browser. Like other so- called chromebooks , this laptop dosen't have a hard drive . It functions like a terminal dependent on an internet connection to get to information and application stored in large data centres run by Google inc or others. It's the least expensive Chromebook that Google has released in the two years that it has been working on the product line . The lower-priced model will go on sale early next week in more than 500 best buy stores in US as well as various websites.
