Aakash 2 for students


Pranab MukHerjee, the newly sworn President of india launched the predecessor of Akash (india's offical low budget tablet) the Aakash 2. The new tablet has been manufatured by UK based Company Datawind, the same company that was invloved in making of the first Akash tablet.
According to PTI reports , Aakash 2 tablet  will hold a price of Rs 1,130 for students and it will be made available to students of engineering colleges and universities accross the nation.

Already informed in past repots , the new Aakash 2 tablet has been develouped under the aegis of IIT Bombay with the active Support of Centre for Develoupment of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). IIT Bombay has developed unique and compelling applications for engineering students on the Aakash2 platform, which include 3D-modelling, C++ programming, remote and collaborative training applications, robotic control, and live assessment tools ."The price is Rs 2,263 at which the government purchases the device from us. The government subsidises it by 50 per cent and it will be distributed to students at Rs 1,130 " Said Datawind CEO suneet Tuli.

Mr. Tuli said that the government was also trying to encourage the state governments to chip in by subsidising it further so that the device could eventually be available to students free of cost . Reportedly , the  commersial Version of Aakas2  unit is branded as Ubislate 7Ci and is available for purchase on Datawind's website at Rs 3,500/-




Well  as expected datawind didn't dissapointed the customers  it has overcome the limtations of its parent AKASH1 .well if we check out their website  we would be disspointed as pre booking for jan  &  feb is over and you would have to wait a bit longer .well the comercial version ubislate 7  laks 3G modem its a draw back but till the newly added android 4.0.3 Icream sandwich and access to android market are new features  also a 1GHz ARM cortex A8 processors and 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memmory.


President Pranab Mukherjee launches Aakash 2

As repoted , india will also showcase its low-cost Aakash tablet at the United Nations highlighting the country's innovation involved in the "most competitively priced " tablet computer. According to the PTI report , india's permanent Representative to UN Hardeep Singh Puri said presentation on the tablet will be held on November 28 at world body's headquarters.

The Aakash is a 7” Android 2.2 touch screen tablet that has a HD video co-processor for a high-quality multimedia experience and core graphics accelerator for faster application support.  The Aakash tablet is the only Android device in the market to offer DataWind’s UbiSurfer browser, based on 18 international patents.  The UbiSurfer browser accelerates web pages by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing for a web experience who’s speed is unrivalled.The device includes WiFi connectivity and support for optional 3G modems.  Two full-sized USB ports are integrated into the unit allowing pen-drives, external keyboards, web-cams, dongles and other inexpensive peripherals to be attached.  “Pen drives are a common medium for storing and sharing content in India.  They are even used by people that are not computer savvy, for access to music and videos.  A full sized USB ports allowing regular pen-drives to be plugged-in is also available as an added advantage over other Tablets.  
A key accessory offered with the Aakash tablet by DataWind, is the Leather Keyboard Case.  The leather case not only protects the device, but has an integrated keyboard case allowing fast typing and conversion of the device as a small notebook.

for student is avialable at just Rs.1500 about   $35 .A new and improved version is expeted to be reach the
market after or before feb 2012
